Changing a ZIPAIR flight from the U.S.
Most airlines charge a change fee. ZIPAIR simply does not offer voluntary date changes on its standard fares, so 'how do I change my flight' really means 'what is the cheapest way out of this ticket and into a new one.' We do that calculation with you, line by line, before you cancel anything.

1-866-884-3459 is our independent assistance number. It is not ZIPAIR Tokyo's official phone number; the airline itself takes inquiries at zipair.net/en/help.
Your three real options
1. Cancel and rebook (standard fare)
Cancelling a standard ZIPAIR fare returns only the airport fees and taxes that are no longer payable. The fare itself is forfeited. The question is therefore whether a new ticket on your preferred date costs less than the value of what you would lose. On sale fares the answer is often yes; on peak-date fares it can be a painful no.
2. Flex Biz voucher, then rebook
If you added Flex Biz at booking, you can cancel through Manage Booking and receive a ZIPAIR voucher instead of cash:
| Cancellation timing | Voucher value |
|---|---|
| 30 or more days before departure | Full amount paid, minus a 3% issuance fee (97%) |
| 29 to 7 days before departure | 80% of the amount paid, minus 3% (77.6%) |
| 6 days before departure to departure day | No voucher — taxes refunded only |
Vouchers are valid for 180 days, can only be used for a booking that includes the original passenger, and can be combined. Source: ZIPAIR's Flex Biz / voucher refund page.
3. Airline-initiated schedule change
ZIPAIR may retime or cancel a flight. When the airline changes your flight, you can accept the new schedule or request a refund for the changed segment to your original payment method. You are not entitled to a free move to a different date of your choosing, but a schedule change is the one scenario where the airline, not you, is bearing the fare risk.
Worked example
A traveler paid $1,180 for LAX–NRT round trip on standard fares and needs to move the outbound by three days, 20 days before departure.
- Without Flex Biz: cancelling returns roughly the taxes (often under $100). A new outbound on the new date costs $640. Net cost of the change ≈ $540 plus the forfeited outbound fare.
- With Flex Biz (added for around $75–150 at booking): cancelling 20 days out returns a voucher worth 77.6% of the $1,180 plus add-ons ≈ $915. Rebooking both directions on the new dates at $1,200 leaves ≈ $285 to pay.
- If only the outbound needs to move: partial cancellation is possible; the voucher or refund applies to the cancelled portion only.
Numbers are illustrative — we run them with your actual fare and today's prices.
Booked through a travel website?
If your ticket was issued by an online travel agency, that agency — not ZIPAIR — processes the cancellation, and it may hold the refund or voucher for you. Agencies also apply their own service fees. We check the agency's own policy against ZIPAIR's and tell you which party to contact and what to ask for so the request is not bounced between the two.
