ZIPAIR baggage policy, explained for U.S. travelers

ZIPAIR's baggage rules are simple and strictly enforced at the counter: seven kilograms in the cabin including your personal item, and every checked bag is a paid item unless your bundle includes one. The expensive mistakes happen at the airport, where fees carry a processing surcharge and extra cabin weight cannot be bought at all. Here is how to avoid them.

1-866-884-3459 is our independent assistance number. It is not ZIPAIR Tokyo's official phone number; the airline itself takes inquiries at zipair.net/en/help.

Cabin baggage — the 7 kg rule

You may bring one carry-on (max 55×40×25 cm) and one personal item (max 45×35×25 cm), but the two together must weigh no more than 7 kg. Cabin bags are routinely weighed at check-in. A typical roller with a laptop bag is 9–11 kg, so most travelers either check the roller or buy the extra cabin-weight option in advance.

Extra cabin weight must be purchased at least 24 hours before departure. It is not sold at the airport. If you are over at the counter, the only option is to check a bag at the airport rate.

Checked baggage — fees and limits

Airport purchaseStandard fee plus a processing fee — always pre-purchase online
BundlesValue-type bundles include one checked bag; confirm the weight allowance shown on your itinerary
Verify before you act. Fare rules, fees and route details on this page reflect ZIPAIR's published conditions as of September 2026 and can change. Always confirm the current rule in your booking or on zipair.net before making a decision.

Delayed, damaged or lost bags

Report the problem at the ZIPAIR or handling-agent baggage desk before leaving the arrivals hall and obtain a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) reference. Claims made after leaving the airport are much harder. Keep bag tags, boarding passes and receipts for essentials you buy while waiting. We help travelers complete the report, follow up on delivery and prepare the claim — the airline decides compensation under the Montreal Convention limits.

Sports equipment, strollers and special items

Sports equipment and oversized items are accepted within the 203 cm / 30 kg limits as paid pieces; fees depend on route and item. Strollers and car seats for a ticketed child are generally accepted — confirm the current rule for your flight. Lithium batteries, power banks and e-cigarettes travel in the cabin only.
