ZIPAIR at Honolulu (HNL)
ZIPAIR's Honolulu service links Hawaii and Tokyo with the same low-cost, à-la-carte model as its mainland routes. The questions we hear from HNL travelers are different, though: inter-island connections, re-checking bags after a Hawaiian Airlines or Southwest flight, and how to handle a family booking where children are under 6 or under 7.

Connecting from a neighbor island
ZIPAIR does not interline with other airlines. If you fly from Maui, Kauai, Kona or Hilo on another carrier, collect your bags at HNL, walk to Terminal 2, and check in with ZIPAIR as a new departure. Allow at least 3 hours between the inter-island arrival and the ZIPAIR departure, and do not book the inter-island leg so tight that a short delay causes a no-show on a non-refundable fare.
Family bookings from Hawaii
HNL is our busiest airport for family and multi-generational trips to Japan. The two rules that decide the fare are under 6 (U6 fares; every child still needs a seat) and under 7 (cannot occupy ZIP Full-Flat). Dates of birth must match passports. See date-of-birth corrections if something was entered wrong.
Baggage at HNL
Cabin allowance is 7 kg combined and it is checked. Agricultural inspection applies to checked bags departing Hawaii — allow time. On arrival from Narita, missing bags are reported at the Terminal 2 baggage service desk before leaving customs.
